Farewell Letter

Dear Supporters:

It is with not only emotional hearts but also with a sense of great satisfaction to announce that the 12th Promises for Purple 5K Walk for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness on November 5, 2023 will be our final.

Founder & family member, Claire Zampine Muollo, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2009. She had incredible determination to help find a cure and support others who were also enduring the disease. In 2011, as she underwent extensive treatment, Claire organized the first walk at Braintree High School, her alma mater. Since her passing in 2014, Claire's family and friends have continued her crusade.

This summer, Promises for Purple met a fundraising goal so that the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute named a lab space in Claire's honor within the Richard A. & Susan F. Smith Research Laboratories. This is where Dr. Brian Wolpin of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute leads his team to conduct world-class pancreatic cancer research. We hope this serves as a legacy in loving tribute to Claire's unforgettable impact as well as offering inspiration to those working hard to find a cure.

Thank you to all the participants, donors, volunteers & local businesses who have supported Promises for Purple over the past 11 years! Your generous support has been astonishing. Together, we have worn purple in all kinds of weather to collectively raise over $273,000 that has directly benefited pancreatic cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We will always treasure the connections, memories made, and unending spirit of hope for future achievements to conquer pancreatic cancer.

We look forward to seeing you & your team wearing purple at the Grand Finale Walk on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Braintree High School. In Claire's words, please "keep the purple flowing" …always!

With Sincere Gratitude,

The Muollo & Zampine Families
